RUBBERMAID SHUTS CORTLAND PLANT.(BUSINESS)

CORTLAND -- For Arthur Buchanan, it was another painful jolt. He accepted it with resignation, much like everyone hearing about Rubbermaid's sudden decision to close its local plant and leave 467 people without jobs.

``There's nothing you can do about it, so you just have to live with it,'' said Buchanan, who came to Rubbermaid four years ago after he lost his job at Smith-Corona Corp. when the typewriter-maker left town and moved more than 900 jobs to Mexico.
